Fatehgarh Sahib, December 4

Rice millers across the state have decided to boycott the solvent companies by not supplying them rice bran and paddy husk to protest the imposition of one per cent cut on oil contents by these companies. A decision to this effect was taken during the executive meeting of the Punjab Rice Millers Association under the chairmanship of Punjab Rice Millers association (PRMA) president Tarsem Saini at Moga this afternoon.

Nakesh Jindal, press secretary, PRMA, said the association had decided to boycott the supply of rice bran and paddy husk to the solvent plants operating in Punjab as these plants had been “exploiting” the millers.

Jindal said the solvent plants had also decided not to pay the cost of bags in which they supplied rice bran or paddy husk. — TNS
