Rice miller adopts grain market to make it agro-tech hub

A local rice miller has adopted the grain market under corporate social responsibility and will turn it into agro-technology knowledge hub.

Vijay Setia, Director Chaman Lal Setia Exports, said it would fill the knowledge gap among farmers and they could get full worth of their produce.

He has erected hoardings at various places depicting tips of scientific crop production for better results and soon would upgrade efforts to provide extension service to the farmers.

“I had sent a letter to Chief Administrator (CA), Haryana State Agricultural Board, to develop grain markets in the state as knowledge hubs for farmers by giving them to millers,” he said.

He had also urged the CA to provide him the premises of the grain market which was accepted. We will soon make the farmers aware about new technologies by holding interaction programmes with experts, showing videos of new technologies etc to farmers, he added.

“During my visit to the grain market, I observed that farmers in large numbers from the rural areas come for marketing their produce but due to lack of knowledge they could not get full worth of their produce. This set me thinking that if the farmers used the latest farm technologies they could increase their yields and profits,” he said
