Researchers discuss anti-microbial resistance

CHANDIGARH: A three-day workshop on ‘Tackling the Emergence of Anti-microbial Resistance: Increasing Awareness and Facilitating Research Networks’ organised jointly by the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) and the University of Cambridge, UK, started here today.

A three-day workshop on ‘Tackling the Emergence of Anti-microbial Resistance: Increasing Awareness and Facilitating Research Networks’ organised jointly by the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) and the University of Cambridge, UK, started here today.

The workshop will provide a platform for UK and Indian research groups to discuss innovative and collaborative solutions, including increasing awareness and new cohorts of researchers to issues pertaining to anti-microbial resistance (AMR). The workshop focused on networking, knowledge exchange and international capacity building for early career researchers.

Dr RK Sinha, Director, IMTECH, highlighted the workshop’s objectives and discussed the current scenario in this field. Richard Porte, Head of Strategic Partnerships, Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, spoke on the society’s activities to promote and advance excellence in chemical sciences in India and across the world. Over 150 participants from India, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam and South Korea are attending the event.
