Karnal, February 22

Dr Kamal Gupta, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS), summoned the Director of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Madhuban, to be present at the next meeting after no representative from FSL attended the district public grievances redressal meeting held here today.

The Director has been asked to explain why there was a delay of over two years in the FSL report in the death of a Majra Roran youth.

The CPS, at the last meeting, had instructed the district administration to convey to the FSL that some representative from their side must be present at the meeting to explain the reason for the delay.

Zaila Ram of Majra Rodan had alleged that his son was found dead in the fields in August 2014 and for ascertaining the cause of his death, viscera was sent to the FSL.

Just before the last meeting held last month, the complainant had received the report, but the CPS took serious note of the delay on part of the police and the FSL and directed the authorities to make sure some representative was present at the meeting to explain why there was a delay. He also directed the SP to look into the matter.

SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa today told the CPS that the police had submitted the viscera with the FSL on time, but due to certain queries raised by the FSL, the report got delayed by three month.

“I have called for an explanation from the FSL Director at next meeting,” said the CPS, while chairing the meeting at Panchayat Bhawan. — TNS
