Ludhiana, April 21

Understanding the strategic culture of India and Pakistan is very important for the growth and development of both the countries.

This was stated by Dr Shalini Chawla, senior fellow, Centre for Air Power Studies, New Delhi, while addressing members of the Ludhiana Management Association (LMA) during a seminar on ”Understanding Pakistan’s Strategic Culture”.

She said policy makers had largely focused on spending on defense rather than on education, health, and economic growth of the country.

She opined that India should grow economically and build long-lasting relations with countries such as the USA and China, thus putting pressure on Pakistan to stop fundamentalist group to operate from their country.

Sachit Jain, president, Ludhiana Management Association, said strong economic and social relations with neighbours were important for the development of regional harmony.

India and Pakistan should play a key role in that direction.

He said people to people contact would help understand each other better rather than political view points.
