Chandigarh, March 26
Jaswant Singh Rana was today re-elected as the president of Chandigarh Press Club for the second consecutive term.
According to returning officer Sham Singh, the election was peaceful and turnout was record-breaking for which he thanked the members.
The entire nine-member panel led by Rana swept the poll.
Rana of Dainik Tribune won the poll by defeating Tarlochan Singh of Punjabi Tribune with a margin of 144 votes.
Elections to the nine posts of the governing council were held in which 507 voters out of the 581 cast their votes, disclosed returning officer Sham Singh.
Rajinder Nagarkoti of The Tribune won the seat of vice-president by defeating Amarnath of Dainik Tribune by 202 votes, the highest margin in the elections.
Among other office-bearers, Barinder Rawat was elected secretary general, Saurabh Duggal senior vice-president, Monika Sharma vice-president, Neha Sharma and KS Rana joint secretaries, Sanjay Malhotra secretary and Ramesh Handa treasurer.
