Differences have cropped up between the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) and Jat Jagriti Sena (JJS) over support extended by ‘godman’ Rampal to the quota stir by sending supporters to Jassia village in Rohtak district.

The JJS has threatened to launch a campaign against Rampal in Dighal village here if he does not withdraw support to the Jat stir. AIJASS leaders have said since they are not against anyone, those who want to support them are welcome as the dharna is being organised with the support of all communities.

JSS activists organised a demonstration by chanting ‘Shanti Path’ at Dhaud Chowk here yesterday.

“Jats are strong and don’t need the support of Rampal. He openly spoke ill of the Arya Samaj and its ideology and resorted to violence against Jat youths outside his Karontha ashram some years ago. Hence, we fully resist Rampal’s support,” said Rahul Dadu, chief of the JJS.

He maintained that the JJS would peacefully raise its voice against Rampal if he did not withdraw his support to the ongoing stir within the next two days. Dighal village would be the centre of this anti-Rampal campaign, he added.

Jitender Dhankar, alias Babla, district chief of the AIJASS, said the AIJASS had nothing to do with the opinion of the JJS.

“We have no objection to Rampal’s support. Being a Jat, Rampal expressed solidarity with our demands and we accepted it. We have welcomed members of other communities and religions to support us in the campaign,” he said.
