Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said the top leadership of the Congress in New Delhi has asked the Congress leaders in Uttarakhand to start preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

“We will hold rallies in the state from the next month. I along with the PCC chief Kishore Upadhyay will travel in the state and hold mini yatras,” he said.

Speaking at a press conference after his return from Delhi, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said Rahul Gandhi had urged party workers and the leaders to work unitedly.

Further he said the state government would acquire all disputed land of ashrams and bring it into public use. Recently, the BJP leader Satpal Maharaj had alleged that the government had illegally acquired the land belonging to Nirmal Ashram.

Significantly, the Chief Minister also clarified that he was misquoted on the Gairsain. “I had only said we will make a road map for the development of Gairsain but I was quoted as saying that Gairsain will be made the capital of Uttarakhand which is not true. In my view, this decision has to be taken by the people of the state,” he stressed.

The Chief Minister also announced the creation of six new development authorities/councils.
