Chandigarh, January 16

The rain has once again brought bad experience for the people who came to buy vegetable and fruits at the Sector 26 Fruit and Vegetable market today.

Both traders and customers had tough time walking in the slush after rain.

The traders complained that every time it rained, they faced similar situation and the whole area turned messy. Devraj, a trader, said that trucks, rehris, hand-driven carts and horse carts also increased the problems. The vendors sitting in the mandi also add to the woes.

Despite the drives carried out in the past to remove them, they continue to sit the area. The large-scale encroachments by the roadside vendors has led to congestion in the mandi thereby causing problem to people. Many trucks load and unload inside the market. The fruits and vegetable stalls are increasing day by day.

Juhjar Singh, chairman of the Market committee, said recently, the sanitation has significantly improved in the mandi. He said he would ensure the area became free from encroachments.
