Rain disrupts Char Dham Yatra

The Char Dham Yatra was disrupted yesterday due to heavy rain. The Rishikesh-Badrinath highway was blocked at Lambagad due to landslides, disrupting the Badrinath yatra.

Similarly, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath highway was blocked due to landslides at Sirobagad, affecting the yatra to the Kedarnath shrine. Landslides led to a blockade on the Rishikesh-Yamunotri road at Ojri also. The administration and Border Roads Organisation authorities are working round-the-clock to remove the blockades.

In the Kumaon division of the state, a major mishap was averted after a minor landslide took place at Garmpani Bazaar in Nainital district. Boulders rolled over a passenger bus when it was on way to Almora from Haldwani. All sixteen passengers managed to escape unhurt.

Meanwhile, meteorological officials in Dehradun have predicted heavy rainfall in isolated areas of the state in the next 24 hours.
