Haridwar, February 13

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi conducted a 90-km roadshow that concluded at the sanctum sanctorum of Braham Kund, Har-ki-Pauri, late last night.

He performed rituals and offered milk to the Ganga amid chanting of hymns.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat and a large number of party workers were also present on the occasion.

Rahul Gandhi thanked party workers and the public for their support and love throughout the roadshow.

He linked the good governance of the state Congress with his roadshow and ill-governance of the BJP at the Centre. He said, “Job for one person in a family is not a poll promise, but an initiative for which he and Chief Minister Harish Rawat are quite serious.”

“I will monitor the scheme and ensure that each and every family gets employment for one member. Earlier, the Congress had provided lakhs of jobs through MGNREGA and now in Uttarakhand, we will provide permanent employment through one person, one family employment scheme,” Rahul said.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat said the roadshow had proved a Congress wave in the state and the popularity of Rahul Gandhi.

He assured people of carrying forward the unfinished development works carried by his government in past three years.
