Handsome hunk, Shaheer Sheikh, currently seen as protagonist Dev Dixit in Sony TV’s Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi is back on television after a gap of two years. The actor is excited with the good feedback coming his way. Quite interestingly, he believes, doing one’s best on the small screen is anyday better than delivering a poor performance on the big one! Here are snippets from a candid chat with the actor.

You are back on Indian television after two years, how does that make you feel?

I have not played a mature character like Dev before, and when they narrated the story, I started living the character that very instant. I was being offered heroic roles earlier, but Dev is not a hero, he is a normal guy everyone can relate with.

Did you miss Indian television while working in Indonesia?

Obviously the comfort zone which I relished here was missing there, because I was working with a new group of people. It took some time to learn the language and also the working style was different. But it is okay, as I like the idea of facing new challenges in life.

We heard about your break-up with your Indonesian girl friend. What went wrong?

I think one of the major reasons behind our break-up was communication gap. She didn’t speak English much and I didn’t speak Indonesian much, we hardly understood each other’s feelings or emotions. Plus, I could not have stayed put in Indonesia, for I wanted to come back to India.

What is your take on marriage now?

I am ready for marriage. But I don’t know when that will happen as I need to first fall in love with someone. I have no idea if I will go for an arranged marriage or love marriage.

Many television actors are making a transition to films. Do you also have such aspirations?

I want to do good work. I too was offered films but I think it’s better to do good television shows rather than a small role in a film.

Are you open to reality shows?

I can do a dance, adventure or sports-based reality shows. But I can’t live in a locked house because I’m very moody.
