Puneet Sandhu’s murder: Charges framed against four

A local court today framed charges against four persons in the Puneet Sandhu murder case reported in October last year.

The court framed charges of murder, criminal conspiracy and Arms Act against the four accused persons.

Charges have been framed by the court against Ram Lal Chaudhery, his sister Anju, Supreet and Manpreet, who had executed the crime.

Amit, who had a live in relationship with Puneet had called the police after he found her body lying in a pool of blood in her bedroom at 9.30 pm on October 16, 2014. Puneet had sustained three bullet injures from a point-blank range.

The police had stated that Amit’s father Ram Lal Chaudhary and his sister Anju, had hired Supreet, one of Amit’s close friends, to murder Puneet.

Manpreet Singh, alias Lalli, who had supplied the weapon of crime used in the murder, was arrested two months after the incident.

In her statement to the police, Puneet’s sister Avneet Kaur had alleged that Ram Lal Chaudhary and his daughter Anju got Puneet murdered as she had become the reason why Amit was ignoring his wife and children.

Puneet Sandhu (27), was found dead at her residence at the Punjab and Sind Society, Sector 49, Chandigarh, on October 16.

Anju, sister of Amit, a resident of Sector 4, Mansa Devi Complex, had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Puneet. She had talked about her plan to Supreet and asked him to execute the crime.

As per the chargesheet, Anju promised an amount of Rs 6 lakh to Surpreet as a reward for eliminating Puneet.
