PSEB Class X result out; 68% pass

MOHALI: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Tuesday declared the results for Class X examination with 68.61 per cent students passing the exam.

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Tuesday declared the results for Class X examination with 68.61 per cent students passing the exam.

Last year, the pass percentage of the examination was 71.  A total of 3,53,327 candidates appeared in the examination, of which 242,406 have cleared it.

The Board this year, under a new experiment, released two separate merit lists for academic and sportpersons.

Nitasha Aggarwal from Tapa, Barnala, is Punjab topper with 99.08 per cent marks in the academic list, while Namreet Kaur from Zira (Ferozepore) is also first with 99.54 per cent marks in the sportpersons merit list.

In the provisional academic merit list, Nancy Bhadiyar, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Ghagwal, Hoshiarpur, secured second position with 98.92 per cent marks; and Harmandeep Kaur from MSMSS Public School, Kasoana (Ferozepore), came third getting 98.77 per cent marks.

In the provisional sportpersons merit list, Shivam Kumar from BCMS School, Ludhiana; and Kirandeep Kaur from SGSPSS School, Jindra, Moga; both shared the second position by securing 99.23 per cent marks.

Kanchalpreet Kaur from SGSPSS School, Jindra, Moga, remained at third spot with 99.08 per cent marks.

"Though the top three candidates of merit list of sportspersons have fetched more marks, we consider the state toppers only from merit list of academics", said Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, the chairperson of PSEB.

The Ludhiana district has 92 students in the merit list, which is the maximum in the state.

The results are available on the Board’s website (pseb.ac.in).
