Dehradun, August 1

Five retrenched Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) workers, who climbed atop a water tank to demand their jobs back, continued to be on the water tank for the fourth day today at the Pavilion Ground.

The retrenched RMSA workers, atop the water tank since Tuesday, are demanding that they be given back their jobs. The 1,863 RMSA workers who were working as laboratory assistants and office assistants in government schools had lost their jobs following a cut by the Central Government in the budget given to the state government.

Since then, RMSA workers are agitating.

Other agitators, who are sitting on a dharna near the water tank, supplied food and water to them through ropes.

Meanwhile, Bishan Singh Chufal, a former state BJP president, visited the protesting RMSA workers and assured them his support. Pressure would be mounted on the state government to accede to their demands, he added.
