Amritsar: State Congress women’s wing head Mamta Dutta on Sunday accused the police of manhandling her and her party workers while they were trying to intercept Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's cavalcade en route to Jalandhar from here. Congress women workers were blocking the airport road when male police personnel led by ACP (north) BK Singla allegedly shoved them. Dutta said: “The police did not deploy women personnel. They roughed us up. Many of our workers, including me, received injuries. We demand the suspension of the entire staff of Sadar police station, she said. TNS

Three injured in Ajnala attack

Amritsar: Three Congress workers, namely Sarwan Singh, Sukhjinder Singh and Aman Kumar, were injured in an attack during a motorcycle rally in Ajnala on Sunday. The rally was being taken out under the leadership of District Congress Committee (rural) chief Gurjeet Aujla when a group of youths attacked party workers with sickles, baseball bats and other weapons. Aujla alleged that the attack was staged at the behest of Ajnala MLA Amarpal Singh Bonny. "We will gherao the residence of the Akali MLA if the culprits are not arrested within two days," he added.
