Panipat, February 26

Jat protesters have decided to boycott two MLAs of the community namely Mahipal Dhanda, MLA from Panipat Rural, and Ravinder Machroli, MLA from Samalkha, for not supporting their ongoing agitation.

Large numbers of protesters reached Ugrakheri village in the district to observe ‘black day’ today on the call given by All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS).

Pratap Dahiya, national secretary, AIJASS, announced to boycott the two MLAs of the community as they did not reach the dharna site to support the agitation.

Manvender Singh Verma, Uttar Pradesh AIJASS president, said a big demonstration would be organised in Delhi on March 2. Jats from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan would participate in the demonstration, he said.

Deputy Commissioner Chander Shekhar Khare along with Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma camped near the dharna venue.

Meanwhile, security was beefed up on the Panipat-Haridwar highway, NH-1, bus stand, railway station and Munak canal in the district.

Sources said Panipat Depot of the Haryana Roadways suspended eight buses on the Panipat-Hisar route, six buses on the Panipat-Rohtak route and diverted buses on the Jind route via Safidon.
