Price of trout up by Rs 50

Fulfilling the demands of trout fish farmers of Kullu district, the state government has increased price of trout fish per kg Rs 50.

The farmers were urging the state government for a long time to hike the price of trout fish, which was Rs 450. They were citing costlier fish feed and production cost as the reason, saying they were suffering losses.

Shakti Singh, president of Trout Fish Farmers’ Association, Kullu, said, “We are thankful to the state government as well as Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Fishery Department Arvind Mehta, who took the initiative.”

A few days back Angling Association Himachal Pradesh and Trout Conservation and Angling Association Kullu had organized three-day All-India Angling Catch and Release Championship at Patlikuhal in Kullu, where Arvind Mehta was the Chief Guest of the concluding ceremony of that event.

Trout farmers and Angling Association members had apprised him of their grievance, who assured them that the issue would be sorted out.
