Prez Medal for Deswal, SK Gupta

CHANDIGARH: On the eve of Independence Day, Rajbir Singh Deswal, ADGP, Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service while Satender Kumar Gupta, SP, has been given the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, said a spokesman of the Police Department.

On the eve of Independence Day, Rajbir Singh Deswal, ADGP, Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service while Satender Kumar Gupta, SP, has been given the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, said a spokesman of the Police Department.

Deswal has earlier been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Commendable Service in 2008. Deswal has served as SP and Commissioner in Ambala-Panchkula, besides IG, Karnal Range. Deswal has so far written over 20 books and contributed over 3,000 articles to various newspapers.

The spokesman said 10 other police officers and personnel had been awarded Police Medals for meritorious service.

The spokesman said Police Medals for Meritorious Service had been awarded to Dr Kushal Pal Singh, Director-General of Police, Panchkula; Dr M. Ravi Kiran, I-G (SVB), Panchkula; Sanjay Kumar, I-G, Rohtak Range; Dharamvir, DSP (CID), Manesar, Gurgaon; Raj Roop, Inspector, HPA, Madhuban; Inder Pal, Inspector (ORP), CID, Sonepat; Sat Pal, Sub-Inspector, HPA, Madhuban; Kirpal Singh, Sub-Inspector (exemptee), Ambala; Ranjit Singh, ASI, SCRB, Madhuban; and Rajbir Singh, ASI (exemptee), SVB, Panchkula.

While President’s Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to Darshan Singh Hooda, Senior Staff Officer (HG), the Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to Harinder Singh, Superintendent, District Jail, Gurgaon; Jai Kishan Chhillar, Superintendent, District Jail, Sonepat; Sukhdev Singh, Sub Assistant Superintendent, Yamunanagar Jail; and Surat Singh, Head Warder, District Jail, Panipat.

Class X topper to unfurl Tricolour

Hisar: The panchayat of Dhansu village has designated government school’s matric topper Sushila Rani as sarpanch for one day on August 15. Sarpanch Manohar Lal Bhakhar said the panchayat took the decision on Saturday. The girl would unfurl the Tricolour and deliver a speech as the chief guest in the village school. tns
