Panipat, May 28

Against the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) officials' claim of uninterrupted power supply in the areas falling under the Panipat circle, several localities are facing the wrath of scorching heat.

Vikas Jain of Bishan Sarup Colony said his locality and surrounding areas were facing two-three power cuts of one-three hours duration daily. Their problem gets aggravated when power supply is disrupted at the time of water supply in the morning and evening.

Malkiat Singh of the Model Town area said his surrounding localities had been facing regular power cuts due to the damaged main wire. Instead of replacing the wire, UHBVN officials keep on repairing it. The locality witnessed three days cut a few days ago.

BS Garg, SE, UHBVN, claimed power was being supplied as per the schedule, though, he said, there might be some unscheduled power cuts due to repair of local faults.

Garg said the demand of power was likely to increase to 1 crore units per day in the coming days when paddy sowing season would reach its pinnacle. He said the UHBVN was fully prepared to meet the demand.
