Police recover stolen temple deity masks

The police recovered four masks (mohras) of deity Lomash Rishi at Diun village in Banjar subdivision of this district today.

Kullu Superintendent of Police (SP) Padam Chand said the metallic masks were stolen from the temple on the intervening night of December 7 and 8 last year.

The SP said the booty was recovered from a trunk kept in bushes near Diun village. The SP said temple priest Devinder Thakur had reported that the value of these ancient artifacts was in crores of rupees. The SP said the police started investigation to nab burglars. In this regard, various residents and one person from Anni was interrogated. He said a person informed the police about the trunk and the stolen artifacts were recovered.

The SP said two persons were arrested for questioning. He said the thieves would be identified soon and put behind bars. — OC
