Let souls of the slain students of Peshawar in Pakistan rest in peace and the Almighty grant strength to their grieving parents to bear the unexplainable tragedy. Shocked over the incident in which more than 140 students and teachers were massacred in Pakistan on Tuesday, individuals and groups prayed for an end to terror attacks on innocent people in the world.
While students and teachers of various educational institutes here and adjoining towns organised prayers for the peace to slain students’ souls during the morning assembly, office-bearers and activists of social and religious organisations gathered at common and religious places to show solidarity with the aggrieved families.
Meanwhile, responding to a call given by Avtar Singh Dhamot, many subscribers to social sites changed their profile picture to a black post, declaring the fatefulday as “Black Day for Humanity”.
Megha Bajpai, a government schoolteacher, posted: “The smallest coffins are the heaviest in the world”.
Office-bearers and activists of social and religious organisations, led by Tarsem Garg, patron of the Social Welfare Organisation, Lalit Kaura and Dr Vikas Hind, president and secretary, respectively, of the Rotary Club, and Bimal Sharma, chairman of Shree Ram Mandir, organised prayers across the town.
Students and teachers of Victoria Public Senior Secondary School, Lehra, MGMN Senior Secondary School, Government Senior Secondary School. Dehlon, and Government Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur, observed two-minute silence seeking solace to the aggrieved families.
Meanwhile, members of the Muslim families remained busy inquiring about the well-being of children of their friends and relatives living in Pakistan.
Khamano: The Management, staff and students of Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir here condemned the killing of innocent students by terrorists in Peshawar. This is the most heinous crime committed against the humanity in recent years. In a message, they said: “We call upon the civilised society across the globe to resolve not to let such an inhuman act ever repeat itself. We send our condolences to our brothers in Pakistan.”
