Moga, August 13

The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a human rights group, has approached the Canadian Government, seeking the arrest and prosecution of former Moga SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma for his alleged role in the Behbal Kalan (Faridkot) police firing, which claimed the lives of two Sikh protesters in October last year.

Claiming that Sharma is staying in Toronto, the SFJ has invoked provisions of Canadian laws. SFJ legal adviser Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said the probe reports of the Justice Markandey Katju (retd) and Justice Zora Singh (retd) Commissions created “reasonable grounds to believe” that on October 14, 2015, Sharma committed acts rendering him inadmissible to Canada under the relevant law. — TNS
