Jammu, September 24

Wishing sportspersons of J&K luck for selection in future international sports events, including 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games to win medals, National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) Director General (DG) Navin Agarwal cautioned the players about the use of performance enhancement drugs.

He was speaking at a day-long Anti-Doping Awareness Programme organised by the J&K State Sports Council at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium, here. “It is my wish that budding players from J&K should compete at highest levels but it is also important for them that they should not be misguided by vested interests by indulging in doping just to better their performance,” the DG said.

He urged the players to compete in the sporting events not just for sake of participation but to bring laurels for the country and the state.

Dr Ankush Gupta from NADA briefed the participants, including coaches, on the harmful effects of taking banned drugs for performance enhancement. — TNS
