The Chandigarh International Airport today witnessed a ‘maharaja’ becoming a ‘commoner’. The visitors at the airport, especially those standing in a queue for boarding a flight to Mumbai, were bowled over when they found Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal waiting patiently for their turn.

Popularly known as “Maharaja Saab” in the region, Capt Amarinder Singh and Manpreet Singh Badal were to take a flight for Mumbai in flight at 12.05 pm when this “uncommon gesture” was shown by them.

“We were surprised to see the CM and the Finance Minister waiting for their turn patiently. They turned down all requests to go straight to the flight with a smile,” said a senior police officer.

He added that all people were very happy to see this pleasant gesture of the CM, who has already ordered his ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats to shed the VIP culture.
