Dehradun, May 5

Garhwal Commissioner CS Napalchyal yesterday said e-rickshaws would prove extremely beneficial to check pollution in the city. He was addressing the gathering at a function to launch e-rickshaws at the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

Napalchyal said e-rickshaws would run on seven routes in the city. Residents should rely more on the public transport system to save fuel and conserve the environment. He said e-rickshaws would be helpful in curbing noise and air pollution in the city. Out of the 22 e-rickshaws registered with the department, permits had been issued to seven so far, he added.

He said residents should come forward to opt for car-pooling to go to office or to drop their wards to schools. The problem of pollution could be easily solved if everyone contributed towards environment conservation, he stated.

e-rickshaw would run on Balbeer road, Nehru Colony, Brightland School road, Brooklyn School road, Great Value Hotel-Canal road, Police Colony-IT Park, Muussoorie bypass, Mokhampur, Ekta Vihar, Geeta Enclave, Ashirward Enclave, Bhagirathi Colony, Nehrugram, Gangotri Enclave, Jogiwala, Inderpur road and other areas.
