Irked over non-acceptance of his demand for opening more police stations in Dadri for the safety of residents, INLD MLA Rajdeep Phogat surrendered his personal security by handing over a memorandum addressed to the state DGP today.

First-time MLA Phogat met Dadri DSP Ramesh Kumar and urged him to depute his (Phogat’s) personal security guards for public security.

He said several social organisations had appealed to the government to establish police posts at Hira Chowk, the grain market and the vegetable market, but every time they were told that the Police Department was facing a severe staff shortage.

Expressing concern over the rise in crime rate, Phogat said while the common man keeps running from pillar to post to seek police protection, it was unworthy of politicians to enjoy the security cover.

Confirming the development, Dadri DSP Ramesh Kumar said MLA Rajdeep Phogat had submitted a memorandum addressed to the DGP, Haryana, asking his security cover to be withdrawn and deputed for a public cause. DSP Ramesh said he neither had the power to depute or withdraw security from an MLA, so the decision would be taken by higher authorities.
