Jhajjar, February 19

Jat protesters today organised a massive show of strength peacefully to mark the ‘Balidaan Divas’ at Rashalvaas Chowk here.

The administration had made elaborate arrangement in the vicinity of programme venue by setting up nakas at all entry points leading to Jhajjar city to check entry of outsiders in the residential area. Volunteers of the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) volunteers also lent a helping hand to the administration in maintaining law and order.

Earlier, Jats from various villages, including a significant number of women, reached the venue on tractor-trailers raising slogans.

Volunteers kept a close tab on the people to prevent any unpleasant incident.

After the formal inauguration of the programme, Jat leaders, including BJP district chief Bijender Dalal and former MLA Rajender Joon, addressed the gathering and expressed solidarity with them.

Later, Nisha Choudhary, general secretary, AIJASS, disclosed the next strategy relating to the agitation for pressing the government to accept demands.

The organisers felicitated kin of those 11 persons killed in violence and arson during the Jat reservation stir in February last year.
