A team of the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) today arrested a patwari while receiving a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a farmer of Bighar village.

Inspector Bhupender Sharma of the SVB, who led the raiding party, said that Ajay Pal, a farmer of Bighar village, had lodged a complaint with the bureau that patwari Raj Pal was demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 for the division of his land in revenue records as per the family settlement.

The SVB team accompanied Ajay Pal to the old bus stand here where the patwari had called him to receive the bribe.

The moment Raj Pal accepted the marked currency notes given by Ajay Pal, SVB sleuths arrested him. Fatehabad Block Development and Panchayat Officer Anubhav Mehta accompanied the team as duty magistrate.
