Patiala lad Anmol Malhotra brought laurels for the city after he was selected for the Punjab Ranji Trophy squad for the coming matches. The squad will be led by former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was named the captain of the Punjab Ranji Trophy team that will take on Tamil Nadu, which be played at Nagpur from 21-24.

A student of second year in Modi College, Malhotra was the highest scorer in the u-23 with 350 runs at an average of 87. He represented Punjab last season in the lone T20 Ranji match and scored an unbeaten 40.

He gave credit for his success to his coach Arun Sharma.

His mother Rajneesh Malhotra said Anmol was always a disciplined boy at home and since his growing days, he would always pick up the bat among the many toys he had at home.
