Shimla, February 12

Apart from announcing the construction of bhavans for the Parshuram community in each district, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today directed deputy commissioners to identify temples where ‘sevadaars’ or  tenants had taken illegal possession of the properties.

At the second state-level Brahmin Welfare Board meeting today, he said caretakers of temples were given land to earn a livelihood, but they became the owners and forgot their duties.

He exhorted Brahmins to run ‘Gau-Sadans’, adding that the government would extend support to them. He said the government was taking measures to check the monkey menace.

Virbhadra said the government was mulling over amending the Atrocities Act, which was being misused. He said various benefits were  being extended under the Indira Awaas Yojana and Rajiv Awas Yoajna to BPL families.
