Parents move court against city school

Four parents of students today filed a civil case in a local court against Chitkara International School, Chandigarh, demanding that the school be restrained from charging “hiked quarterly tuition fee.”

Counsels of the petitioners, Vivek Mohan Sharma and Anil Gogna, stated there was a hike of 62 to 67 per cent in tuition fee, which is illegal and unjustified.

They further said even in the same class, new and old students are paying different fee.

As per the fee structure mentioned in the plea, it was averred that quarterly tuition fee for Nestling to Cygnets had been raised from Rs 9,150 in 2016-17 session to Rs 15,600 in 2017-18.

While in Grade I to V, the fee has been raised from Rs 9,750 to Rs 16,290, the fee for for Grade VI to X has been hiked from Rs 10,050 to Rs 16,620 for the same period by the school in question.

Already, parents of students at St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44; Mount Carmel School, Sector 47, and Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector 40, have approached the court over the fee hike issue.
