Jammu:Unemployed and displaced Kashmiri Pandits living in the camps of Jammu, especially at Jagti, have demanded a special recruitment drive for them in J&K Police. Under the banner of 'Youth of Jagti', they have written to Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid to recruit the youth belonging to the minority Pandit community who were eager to serve the force. "Apart from employment, a majority of Pandit youth want to serve the police and other forces. The government should organise a special drive to choose and identify the right candidates living in the camps," said Shibhan Kumar, president of the youth group. The group has also demanded placing a flying-squad vehicle to keep track on anti-social elements who are frequently indulging in 'eve-teasing' women. It is pertinent to mention here that camps at Jagti, Nagrota, Muthi, Buta Nagar and Purkhoo house thousands of displaced Pandits who were forced to leave the Kashmir valley by militants in 1989-90.
