Panch Pardhani merges with Dal Khalsa

Chandigarh, May 20

Two hardliner groups, the Dal Khalsa and Panch Pardhani, today announced their merger. The party will be known as the Dal Khalsa, which will pursue its agenda of a sovereign Punjab.

Human rights activist and lawyer Harpal Singh Cheema was announced as working president of the outfit. He has been empowered to restructure the party and its units in the state by August 13.

Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said revolutionary poet and Dal Khalsa founder Gajinder Singh and Panch Pardhani founder Bhai Daljit Singh would remain their guiding force. SGPC member Kulbeer Singh Barapind, presently under detention, would be assigned a significant role after his release.
