School resonates with plethora of activities

The seventh annual prize distribution and cultural bonanza was organised on the premises of Green Land Convent School, Dugri. The Police Commissioner, Pramod Ban, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The chairman of the chain of Green Land Schools, Rajesh Rudhra, Usha Rudhra and president Shabad Rudhra and Vijay Danav, chairman, Dalit Vikas Board Punjab were also present.

The event started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, chairman and president of Green Land Schools.

The theme of ceremony was ‘Navras’. The school principal also presented the annual report of the school.

The programme began with an invocation to Lord Shiva. The ‘Bhakti Ras’ left everyone awestruck. Rajasthani dance and Spanish dance performances were presented by the students of primary and pre-primary sections. Two plays titled ‘Mukti Dham’ and ‘Kathputhli’ were staged by the students. The plays were presented in ‘Karuna Ras’ thereby striking an emotional chord with the audience. The children also presented performances on the theme of the mother-son relationship and presented the journey of a handicapped child in the form of these two plays.

The prize distribution function was organised in two phases. The academic and sports achievers of the session 2012-13 were given away prizes in the first phase. After the first phase of prize distribution, the function resumed.

Mime on the topic ‘Use of too much of mobile phone’ was loved by one and all. Girls also presented a dance parody on the occasion. The performances were based on an amalgamation of the new and old numbers of Bollywood.

The rich culture of Punjab in the form of giddha and bhangra was the highlight of the show.

In the second phase of the prize distribution function, the students shining in academics, sports and NCC were rewarded for the sessions 2013-14 and 2014-till date. All the dignitaries congratulated the students on their achievements.

The chief guest was presented a memento as a token of gratitude by the chairman of the school.

The chief guest while addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts of the students. Recital of the National Anthem marked the end of the event.
