Chandigarh, December 14

Kicking up another controversy, a former Punjab Police “cat”, Inspector Gurmeet Singh, aka Pinky, has moved a complaint to the Chandigarh Police against former Punjab DGP and Chairman of the Police Housing Corporation, Punjab, Sumedh Singh Saini and Amandeep Kumar, aka Skoda, allegeing that he paid Rs 50 lakh to them for getting himself reinstated in the Punjab Police.

In his complaint to the police, Pinky said in December 2014, he was introduced to Amandeep, who allegedly made an offer to him for getting him reinstated as a head constable in lieu of a payment of Rs 50 lakh.

Pinky alleged that in January 2015, Amandeep again approached him with the same offer after which he allegedly paid Rs 30 lakh to Amandeep at his residence in Sector 28, Chandigarh, which was collected by Saini’s personal security officer Uma Shankar.

Saini refused to comment on the issue.

Pinky has alleged that he was asked to pay the remaining amount of Rs 20 lakh on his reinstatement. Pinky claimed that after four months, Amandeep acknowledged the payment of Rs 30 lakh by way of an affidavit dated April 8.

Pinky alleged that he paid the remaining of Rs 20 lakh to Amandeep on May 15 and collected his orders of reinstatement in the police. Pinky has stated that on May 24, he was served orders of revocation of his reinstatement.

Pinky has alleged that Saini misused his official position and duped him of Rs 50 lakh in connivance with Amandeep. Pinky said he apprehended a threat to his life.

The complaint was sent to the Sector 26 police station. Sources in the UT police said the complaint was received this evening through a registered post.
