Kashmir’s frontal militant organisation Hizbul Mujahideen has denounced the Peshawar attack and termed it an open “act of terrorism”.

In a statement issued to a local news agency in Srinagar, Current News Service, on Wednesday, Hizb chief spokesperson Syed Sadaqat Hussain, while expressing solidarity with the victim families, said Islam never permits such inhuman acts.

“Anti-Pakistan elements are leaving no stone unturned to weaken the roots of Pakistan and it is high time that Pakistan puts a united fight against these forces,” the spokesman was quoted by the CNS.

“Our beloved Prophet always laid emphasis that we should not murder children, aged and women of our foes during war. The Peshawar act was inhuman and such acts have no place in Islam,” he said.

The Hizb spokesperson urged Pakistan to get united in combating terrorism.

The Hizbul Mujahideen was once a formidable militant outfit and had the largest cadre in the Valley. The outfit, the police said, has been reduced to nearly 50 militants. The militant group was set up in 1989 and most of its cadres were drawn from the Jamat-e-Islami, a socio- religious organisation.
