As a part of the Jaspal Bhatti comedy series, a Punjabi comedy play, “Malanga Time Pass”, was staged at Tagore Theatre today. Sans a conventional storyline, the play written and directed by Malkiat Singh, relied on fragmented satirical punches, taken from different situations in a cohesive manner.

The play, structured in semi-urban Punjabi social milieu, left the audience in splits with thrilling punches of wit, humour and oblique references to evils like dowry, cultural pollution due western influence, political hypocrisy and the lackluster governance. The play attempted to create awareness about anti-social elements responsible for social disturbances. Malkiat Singh, who played the role of Malanga was impressive. The play maintained a faster pace with good comic timing.
