Chandigarh, January 18

Around 80 operation theatre technicians of the PGI today held a candlelight march to express solidarity with a colleague who was allegedly manhandled by a junior resident yesterday.

The march was held in the evening from the Gol Market to the director’s office.

Notably, the technicians had yesterday staged a protest for several hours outside the director’s office and also submitted a complaint to the PGI Director, demanding stern action against the accused doctor. Manglesh Sharma, president, OT Technical Staff Association, PGI, said this was not the first time such an incident occurred. “We are demanding that the accused doctor be suspended,” Sharma said.
