Mohali, May 25

Only 35 per cent of the students at 43 schools in Mohali district have passed the Class X exam of the Punjab School Education Board Class this year. There are 235 schools in the district.

Among the poor performers, 11 are government schools, located in rural areas of the district. The rest are affiliated, associated and aided schools.

Interestingly, only one government school has less than 20 per cent result. The total number of schools in this category is 12.

Notably, like previous years, the district performed poorly as far as the provisional merit list is concerned. None of the student from the district made it to the provisional merit list of 335 students.

As per the district-vise pass percentage, Mohali has been placed at the 22nd position (second from the bottom) with a pass percentage of 61.77.

Only 15 schools from the district achieved 100 per cent result, which includes only one government school—Government High School, Sarsini.

The number of schools with 90 per cent result is 34 while 60 schools have a pass percentage of 80.

The government schools in Mohali town produced an average result with the top slot among them grabbed by Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 70.

Meanwhile, Government Model Senior Secondary School at Phase 3BI, which is being termed as a “model” school with a top-class infrastructure failed to live up to the expectations as only 57.96 per cent of its students could clear the examination. A total of 157 students from the school had appeared for the examination, of which only 91 have passed it.
