Jammu, June 13

The court of the district consumer forum, Jammu, has summoned Snapdeal for delivering stones to a customer instead of iPhone 4s.

Rajinder Kumar, an officer with the State Bank of India, had ordered an iPhone 4s worth Rs 15,660 for his wife on the occasion of their marriage anniversary. He made the payment online in advance and the product reached his residence at Sainik Colony on April 11, 2015.

However, when he asked his wife to open the gift box in front of all guests, she was shocked to find two stones instead of a phone in the box.

Kumar complained to the customer care of Snapdeal, who later accepted their fault and refunded the money.

Priyanshu Sharma, advocate of Rajinder Kumar, said, “My client had to face embarrassment and harassment due to a blunder done by Snapdeal. The complaint arises out of the defective services and unfair trade practices adopted by the company.” Kumar today filed a complaint against Snapdeal for the fraud and the court after the hearing issued a notice to Snapdeal through its CEO to appear before the court through their counsel on the next date of hearing fixed on July 28.

“The client has rejected the money refunded by the company and demanded compensation against the harassment and embarrassment faced by him,” he added.
