Chandigarh, December 5

After UT inspectors were put to a knowledge test, it is now time for constables to brush up their IQ (intelligence quotient) as they will also have to undergo a test. The first batch will appear for the test tomorrow.

Sources said the constables had been provided with around 1,000 questions and their answers to prepare for the exam. The test will have 100 questions.

The test is being conducted to check the intelligence and competence of the constables.

Officials said all constables would be appearing for the test in separate batches. “They will have to attempt the test on computers,” the sources said.

Navdeep Singh Brar, SP (City), said the aim behind holding the test was to “upgrade the knowledge of the constables”. “We are focusing on brushing up the knowledge of the constables,” the SP said. He said those posted in the traffic wing would get questions related to their wing while those posted in the Police Control Room would get questions related to their work. “The ones who score well will be considered during their transfers for assigning duties as per their caliber,” the SP said.

The Indian Penal Code and the CrPC are also part of the syllabus. The sources said the result of the test would be compiled the same day.

Earlier this year, all UT inspectors had undergone a knowledge test. It was an online test conducted at the Police Lines, Sector 26. The results were not made public, but sources said their scores could be considered during future postings.
