Railway employees staged a rally at the railway station to observe ‘demands day’ in response to a call given by All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF).

The rally was led by the activists of the Northern Railway Mens’ Union (NRMU). Speaking at the occasion, NRMU Divisional Secretary Daljit Singh said as per a decision taken by the AIRF, railway employees were holding rallies and demonstrations all over the country to observe ‘demands day’ and express protest against the anti-employee policies of the Union government today.

He said the Modi-led NDA government was in the process of handing over the railways to the Indian and foreign corporate houses under the garb of FDI, while total privatisation of the railways was also being planned on the basis of recommendations made by Bibek Debroy Committee.

Making it clear that the railway employees would not accept these decisions lying down, he called upon the government to scrap these policies and discuss all related issues with the representatives of the trade unions across the table.

Reiterating the acceptance of 34-point charter of demands, the NRMU

leader demanded the revival of old pension scheme, employment to one child of serving employees under the larger scheme and immediate release of the report of the 7th Pay Commission.
