Chandigarh, April 25

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today directed the Department of Industries to provide the same concessions to the existing industries as are being proposed to be given to the new ones setting up business in Punjab under the new industrial policy.

The direction came during a meeting with a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) delegation led by Sumant Sinha, Chairman, Northern Region, which called on the CM here to discuss ways and means of promoting ease of doing business in Punjab, which currently ranks number 12 on this count.

The CM accepted the delegation’s suggestion to ensure a level playing field for industrial groups that had chosen not to move out of the state due to the “adverse” policies of the previous government.

He instructed officials to incorporate the suggestion in the industrial policy, which the department is working on, a spokesperson said after the meeting. — TNS
