Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Radha Mohan Singh today termed demonetisation move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a masterstroke and in the interest of people.

He was here today to take part in Parivartan Yatra. Speaking at Damkothi, Radha Mohan said black money was one of the main political agendas of the BJP during the last parliamentary elections and now the country would get rid of black money.

“The positive impact of demonetisation has begun to reflect with only opposition parties and those amassing black money resenting this move. Common man, the poor, farmers and labourers are happy with this step. Though some problems are being faced, yet it is in long-term interest of the country and all are willing to face it,” he said.

Pressing for cashless society, Radha Mohan Singh said everyone should try to transaction as much as possible through plastic money, which was being done across the globe owing to deep penetration of information technology.

Stating that the Congress government in Uttarakhand was one of the most corrupt, Radha Mohan said corruption was deep-rooted in this government.

Accompanying the minister were city MLA Madan Kaushik, Mayor Manoj Garg, district vice-party president Vikas Tiwari and ex-district president Kuldeep Gupta. — TNS
