Kurukshetra, May 24

A local court today issued non-bailable warrants against Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups. Judicial Magistrate First Class Sanjay issued the non-bailable warrants.

On April 2, the court had asked Saini to appear in the court to file his reply on May 24. But he failed to appear in the court today.

A court employee reportedly told the judge that no one at Saini’s residence had accepted the summons on the past several occasions.

Taking a serious note of this, the Judicial Magistrate issued the warrants. The next date of hearing has been fixed for August 6.

In May last year, senior INLD leader and president of the women wing of the Sarv Jatiya Sarv Khap Mahapanchayat Santosh Dahiya had filed a case against Saini.

The Kurukshetra MP was accused of repeatedly issuing public statements that allegedly created tension in society.

Meanwhile, Saini’s personal staff said the MP was in Jammu and he was unavailable for comments.

Complainant, a local resident, had sought directions to take action against Saini under Section 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and Section 153-B (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) of the IPC.

She had pleaded that Saini repeatedly issued statements creating tension between the communities with an alleged aim to put all other communities against the Jats.
