The Central Government today gave in-principle approval to a slew of projects for Uttarakhand. These include reassessment of expenditure on the construction  of the Tanakpur-Bageshwar railway line project and setting up two colleges in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister TS Rawat today said the HRD Ministry had agreed to fund two new colleges and allocate Rs 14 crore for the purpose.

The Chief Minister said the Central Government had also approved the construction of two NIT campuses at Sumadi in Pauri Garhwal. “We have already made arrangements for providing 125 acres at Jaletha and Sumadi,” he added.

He said Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had approved two new railway  services. “We have agreed to reassess the cost of construction of the Tanakpur Bageshwar railway line. According to the earlier assessment, the project is estimated to cost Rs 1,300 crore,” added Uttarakhand Chief Minister.

He said an agreement was reached for shifting Dehradun railway station to Harrawala.
