No travel charges from disaster-hit

The Uttarakhand government has taken strong exception to social media reports that charges will be levied on disaster affected, who were recently rescued by helicopters, in Pithoragarh district.

The government categorically held that this was misleading as state government understands the concerns of disaster affected and there was no question of levying them with helicopter travel charges. 

The government held that arrangements of helicopter both for Kumaon and Garhwal division had already been done to deal with cases emergency evacuation relief.

The government said the heli company that has rescued the disaster affected people in Pithoragarh has been categorically told that they will not charge the affected for the rescue.
