Dehradun, March 21

Giving relief to the common man, the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) on Wednesday has recommended a maximum increase of 3 paise/unit for consumers with domestic connections and a decrease of 14 paise/unit for consumers using the electricity for commercial purpose. The new tariff rates for 2018-2019 will be effective from the next month.

According the new rates announced on Wednesday, the consumers consuming more than 100 units of electricity for domestic purpose will have to pay at a rate set at 3 paise per unit, whereas there is no change for domestic consumers consuming electricity for first 100 unit. The tariff rates will remain at 3.20 paise/unit.

On the other hand, for commercial connections, the additional energy charge per month has been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 15, whereas the tariff has been decreased to 14 paise/unit/hr. For the first time in the last 17 years, the regulatory authority has managed to keep the tariff low. — TNS
