Kangra, November 29

Business continues to suffer here in the absence of new Rs 500 note. Being the most used banknote, lack of its availability has inconvenienced people. Though Rs 2,000 and Rs 100 notes have been supplied five times from the currency chest in Chandigarh till now, Rs 500 note has not arrived so far.

Most of the ATMs remain out of order. Either because they have not been reconfigured or there’s no cash to refill them. Residents demand the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) should issue guidelines to all the banks to keep the ATMs open round the clock, adding, it would help reduce the rush.
